The Camburg Kids have been putting in time at the shop and seat time out in the dirt getting ready for their 2nd race of 2021. This year they’re really focused on developing their driving skills and car control at the pace needed to win races consistently. Over the past weekend they entered M.O.R.E’s Transaxle Engineering Challenge race in the 1400 truck class.
It took place out in Barstow, CA and was made up of seven 28-mile laps through some of the roughest and tore up race course in Southern California. If you’re not familiar with the area, this is where most race teams come to test and shock tune so you know the terrain is brutal and challenging.
Cody Campbell was starting 1st off the line in the class, so he knew he had to put a fast pace down right away. He did just that and was running in 2nd place on laps 1 and 2 right on the heels of the leader. Getting more comfortable behind the wheel he pushed a little harder and was able to take the lead on lap 3 before getting out to hand over the truck to Zach.
Zach Zaiden got in for the next two laps and was determined to keep the truck running up front. The truck was running and handling great. Finishing lap 4 he was still in the lead. They knew it was gonna be a battle to the bitter end. Losing a little time on lap 5 he pulled into the pits to hand over the truck to Corey. With 2 more laps to go they were only 2 minutes behind the leader.
Corey Campbell then got in the driver’s seat to finish out the race and make a run for the lead. Even with the added pressure on him he was able to focus and put down one of their faster lap times of the day. He crossed the finish line in 4 hrs 16 mins in 2nd place just under 3.5 minutes behind the winner.
Even with a 2nd place finish, they were all extremely excited and more importantly had a ton of fun out there racing. With zero issues or flats, they got to really focus on their driving and learning the truck more. Every time they get behind the wheel they learn something new and get more comfortable in true race conditions. With driver changes totaling over 4 minutes and losing by less than 3.5 minutes, they knew they ran a race winning pace …. it just didn’t work out that way this time.

The Camburg Kids 2001 Ford Ranger Edge showcases Camburg’s suspension and racing parts along with their sponsors. For the front suspension the truck is outfitted with Camburg’s race series long-travel kit that utilizes their 2.50 front race hubs, FK heims and uniballs and a HOWE steering box with FOX’s 2.5 coilovers, 3.0 bypass shocks and 2.5 bump stops. The rear suspension is made up of Camburg’s 4-link kit connected to their 4.00 rear axle housing running their 3.25 race hubs. With FOX’s 2.5 coilovers, 3.5 bypass shocks and 2.5 bump stops there is plenty of control in the rear. The chassis and suspension are coated with STEEL-IT for optimum corrosion resistance and protection. Powering the truck is a K&N filtered 600hp Moruzzi built LS engine with a Magnaflow exhaust mated to a Culhane built Turbo 400 transmission that is fed by a custom Pyrotect fuel cell. A Full Throttle Battery powers the electronics and OnX Offroad provides their GPS navigation. The Ranger sits on 37” General Tire Grabber X3 tires and 17” Method Race Wheels 103 beadlock wheels. In the cockpit the kids are strapped into Sparco EVO seats with their Sparco steering wheel and Rugged Radios communication in arms reach along with an assortment of Scosche powersports mounts and accessories. When day turns to night, they rely on their Baja Designs LED series of lights.
